In a world where laughter truly is the best medicine, Live2Serve collaborated with Unskilled Immigrants – a Seattle based desi stand up community and demonstrated how humour can serve a higher purpose. This was Live2Serve’s first ever fundraiser promoting Kalakaar – an initiative to spotlight Indian talents whilst celebrating Indian culture with pride. The event was held on July 27th at the Live2Dance studio in the heart of South Lake Union. An Evening of Joy and Generosity From the moment the doors opened, it was clear that this wasn’t just any comedy show. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the audience, a mix of families, friends, and comedy enthusiasts, gathered to support both their favorite comedians. Those who’ve taken a class at Live2Dance know about the cozy, intimate space that it provides, which worked perfectly to set the stage for a night of laughter and camaraderie. Comedic Talent on Display The lineup featured a stellar array of desi comedians, each bringing their unique flair and perspective to the stage. The show was hosted by Unskilled Immigrants founder — Aman Chopra, who added his own witty observational comedy in between sets. The show was opened by two home-grown artists — Vinay Herur and Harsha Narsale who brought with them the Live2Dance touch. This was their first time trying stand up comedy and they managed to leave the audience in stitches from all the laughing. Then followed the line of amazingly talented comedians from the Unskilled community, each one bringing a different topic of Desi life in the US; the trials and the tribulations of what it means to be living abroad. A Community United The success of the event was a testament to the strength and unity of the desi community. It wasn’t just a night of jokes and giggles; it was a celebration of shared values and collective action. As the night came to a close and the final applause echoed through the venue, it was clear that this charity event was more than just a stand-up comedy show—it was a powerful reminder of how entertainment can be a catalyst for positive change. Looking Ahead This first ever fundraiser organized by Live2Serve was indeed a hit. The blend of humor and charity proved to be a winning combination and something that Live2Serve will try to bring back in the future events. Having said that, Live2Serve is just getting started, and exciting things are set to follow.
